Sucked dog rabies bite

A son tried to save his father from a horrible death by sucking a bite that had been inflicted on him by a dog that had rabies

The victim was bitten on the hand by the dog,  a terrier, which was immediately destroyed, although it had shown no sign of rabies. His son sucked the wound, and it was later cauterised by a doctor.
Soon afterwards his father became paralysed in his face and hand, and also suffered from spasms in his throat.  These conditions were successfully treated by his doctor, but later he displayed signs of hydrophobia, which spread rapidly.
He died in agony about two months after he had been bitten by the dog, and in his final hours, when he was writhing in agony, he had to be held down by several men.

`AT Bolton (England) a man named William C. Mullett has died from hydrophobia. He was bitten on the hand in October last by a terrier, which was immediately destroyed, though the animal had shown no sign of rabies. The wound, which bled freely, was sucked by the son before it was cauterised by a doctor, and it healed in a short time. In December Mullett had paralysis in the face and head, which was cured, as was a suhsequent attack of spasms in the throat. Ultimately, however, he showed symptoms of hydrophobia, which developed rapidly. It took several men to hold him down for a few hours before death relieved him from acute agony.’
